Chandra, the Moon god, was born from the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan). His luminous beauty enchanted all beings. He married 27 daughters of Daksha -- the 27 nakshatras -- but favored Rohini above all others.
Angered by this partiality, Daksha cursed Chandra to wane and lose his luster. Chandra sought refuge with Lord Shiva, who placed him on his forehead, earning Shiva the name 'Chandrashekhar.' The curse was modified: Chandra would wax and wane in an eternal cycle.
Chandra is the father of Budha (Mercury), born from his union with Tara, wife of Brihaspati. The Moon governs the mind, emotions, and intuition. His blessings bring mental peace, emotional balance, and nurturing relationships.
चंद्र देव समुद्र मंथन से उत्पन्न हुए। उनकी चमकदार सुंदरता ने सभी प्राणियों को मोहित किया। उन्होंने दक्ष की 27 पुत्रियों -- 27 नक्षत्रों -- से विवाह किया, लेकिन रोहिणी को सबसे अधिक प्रेम किया।
इस पक्षपात से क्रोधित होकर दक्ष ने चंद्र को क्षीण होने का शाप दिया। चंद्र ने भगवान शिव की शरण ली, जिन्होंने उन्हें अपने मस्तक पर धारण किया और 'चंद्रशेखर' कहलाए। शाप संशोधित हुआ: चंद्र शाश्वत चक्र में बढ़ेंगे और घटेंगे।
चंद्र बुध के पिता हैं, जो बृहस्पति की पत्नी तारा से उत्पन्न हुए। चंद्रमा मन, भावनाओं और अंतर्ज्ञान का शासक है।
