Mythology & Origin
Rahu is the severed head of the demon Svarbhanu. During the churning of the cosmic ocean, the gods and demons jointly produced Amrit (nectar of immortality). Lord Vishnu, in the form of Mohini, distributed the nectar exclusively to the gods.
Svarbhanu, an Asura, disguised himself as a Deva and sat between Surya (Sun) and Chandra (Moon) to receive the nectar. Before it could pass his throat, Surya and Chandra recognized him and alerted Vishnu, who severed his head with the Sudarshan Chakra.
But the nectar had already made him immortal. His head became Rahu and his body became Ketu. Since then, Rahu bears enmity toward Surya and Chandra, periodically 'swallowing' them during eclipses. Rahu represents illusion, obsession, and worldly desires, but also innovation and unconventional thinking.
राहु दानव स्वर्भानु का कटा हुआ सिर है। समुद्र मंथन के दौरान, भगवान विष्णु ने मोहिनी रूप में देवताओं को अमृत वितरित किया।

A strong Rahu brings worldly success, foreign connections, technological aptitude, and unconventional achievements. A weak Rahu may cause obsessive behavior, addictions, phobias, and sudden misfortunes. Rahu governs desires (Kama), illusion, and material obsession.
